TP-Link EAP610-Outdoor Access Point Overview
The TP-Link EAP610-Outdoor Access Point is a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 access point built for outdoor and indoor deployment. It suits businesses, campuses, and property managers who need dependable coverage across yards, cafés, pools, and open areas. Additionally, it integrates with TP-Link’s Omada platform for centralised, cloud-based network management.
Key Features & Benefits
- Wi-Fi 6 AX1800 speeds: Combines 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz with 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, so more devices stream and browse at once without slowdowns.
- IP68 weatherproof enclosure: Withstands rain, dust, and temperature swings, keeping outdoor coverage stable through changing seasons.
- Long-range outdoor coverage: High-power amplifiers and professional antennas extend signal reach outdoors, which reduces the number of units a site needs.
- Flexible PoE power: Runs on 802.3at PoE or the included Passive PoE adapter, so one cable carries both data and power to remote mounting points.
- Omada centralised management: Adopts into the Omada controller for one-click setup, seamless roaming, and mesh, cutting both cabling and admin time.

Use Cases: Where the TP-Link EAP610-Outdoor Access Point Excels
This access point earns its place in open, weather-exposed spaces where indoor routers cannot reach. Typical deployments include outdoor cafés, swimming pools, hotel grounds, and campus courtyards. Furthermore, it works well for warehouses, parking lots, barns, and large gardens. For point-to-point extension, Omada mesh links two units without extra cabling, which helps on sites where trenching a cable run is impractical.
TP-Link EAP610-Outdoor Access Point FAQ
Does the TP-Link EAP610-Outdoor Access Point need a controller?
No. It runs in standalone mode for basic setup. However, Omada mesh, seamless roaming, and cloud access do require an Omada SDN controller.
Is the PoE injector included?
Yes. A Passive PoE adapter ships in the box. That adapter is rated for dry indoor use, so keep it under shelter. Alternatively, power the unit from any 802.3at PoE+ switch.
Will it work with a non-TP-Link switch?
Yes. Any 802.3at PoE+ switch can power and connect it. For centralised features, though, you still need an Omada controller.
How far does the signal reach?
Under line-of-sight test conditions, coverage reaches up to 200 m on 2.4 GHz and 300 m on 5 GHz. Walls, weather, and interference will lower real-world range.
Can I use it indoors?
Yes. Despite the outdoor build, the TP-Link EAP610-Outdoor Access Point mounts indoors on walls or poles for high-ceiling and industrial spaces.
